Information collected
Bismuth Media Polls does not currently provide user accounts, payments, newsletters, or forms that collect personal information.
Cloudflare processes standard request information, including IP addresses and browser information, to deliver, secure, and measure the website. Bismuth Media receives aggregated Web Analytics reports rather than a list intended to identify individual visitors. Cloudflare may retain and process request data under its own privacy terms.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page views and performance. This service is cookie-free and is not used by Bismuth Media Polls to identify individual visitors.
The polling tools also send a small, first-party interaction event when someone uses an allowlisted control such as switching map/list view, opening a poll, downloading data, or using the election calendar. The event contains only its schema version, event name, clean page route and, where relevant, an allowlisted country, action or view. Cloudflare supplies the event time and stores these aggregate dimensions in Workers Analytics Engine.
The interaction dataset does not store IP addresses, user agents, referrers, query strings, search text, poll-table queries, or a persistent visitor, user or session identifier. No cookie, fingerprint, consent banner or advertising profile is created. If measurement is unavailable or disabled, every polling feature continues to work normally.
Further information is available in Cloudflare's Web Analytics documentation.
Storage in your browser
The site may store the following information locally in your browser:
- Country slugs you choose as favourites.
- A short list of country slugs you recently opened.
- For each country you open, the public generation time of the verified snapshot shown to you. This lets the global page count published changes since that visit.
- Your preferred map/list and tracker view settings.
This information contains no account, name, contact detail, or persistent visitor identifier. It stays on your device and is not sent to a Bismuth Media Polls user database. Favourite and recent-country lists can be cleared from the global page; all local settings can be removed through your browser's site-data controls.
The site also uses first-party browser cache storage for offline use. It keeps the application shell and country index, then stores country pages and immutable polling snapshots only for slugs in your favourites or recent-country lists. It does not automatically download every country archive. While offline, the site labels cached material as potentially stale; reconnecting refreshes the index. Removing local preferences prunes the related country cache, and all cached files can be removed through your browser's site-data controls.
Third-party requests and links
The map libraries, fonts, search index, and polling snapshots used by visitor pages are served directly by Bismuth Media. Opening a tracker does not contact Wikipedia or another polling source. Source collection runs separately in the scheduled ingestion environment.
External links are governed by the privacy practices of the destination website.
Advertising
No advertising network is loaded and the built-in sponsor component is disabled. If a direct sponsorship agreement is enabled later, it can display only a dated static disclosure, a same-origin image and an HTTPS destination marked as sponsored. It supports no script, tracking pixel, cookie or behavioural targeting. Visiting the sponsor's site requires choosing the external link and is then governed by that destination's privacy practices.
