This archive follows published nationwide federal vote intention across current and historical election cycles. The chart preserves individual poll dates and party values, while the headline summary remains a descriptive national reading rather than a seat estimate.
Electoral system context
Canada elects one member in each federal electoral district, with the candidate receiving the most votes elected. National vote share can therefore diverge from seats when support is concentrated differently across provinces, regions and individual districts.
Party and bloc rationale
The local balance compares the Liberal Party with the Conservative Party. The NDP, Bloc Québécois, Greens, PPC and historical parties are excluded rather than forced onto either side. The pairing is a compact navigation device and does not describe every party or imply international equivalence.
Polling limitations
National samples can mask large regional differences, particularly for parties that contest or draw support from only part of the country. Separate election-cycle source tables create genuine blank periods in the long archive, and pollster methods, undecided treatment and fieldwork timing remain important when comparing rows.
